The Gen 4 F-150 is a completely different variation of the Coyote compared to all previous generations. Due to the changes in Ford’s designs the camshaft installs on the Gen 4 F-150 is more advanced than prior years. With the changes in the overall platform the camshaft profile has similarities to previous designs that have been reworked for the new valve train geometry. Please bear with me and read through this entire description below.
The LM-CT21-LM1 is the first aftermarket camshaft available for the Gen 4 F-150 platform! These camshafts are designed with .551” lift. To give you an idea of how radical of a change this is; the factory Ford camshafts had .450” lift! We’ll do the math for you, that an increase of .101” of lift! These camshafts were designed with the thoughts of “max effort” which was nominated by our customer base. At this time, we will not be offering a drop in camshaft set for this platform and are unsure if we will in the future.
With this thought process there were modifications that needed to be made for power and reliability. The first change is these camshafts will delete the VDE system (cylinder deactivation). We have gone ahead and made a kit with the parts needed to delete this system and they are an available dropdown option when ordering the camshafts above. The Gen 4 F-150’s oiling system is much more complex and susceptible to issues due to the additional oil passages and oil jets. Deleting the VDE system will drastically reduce the chances of lifter & camshaft failures as the oil pressure will not be affected now that there aren’t any cylinders being shut down. If you have read this far it is safe to assume you are more interested in the horsepower gains rather than fuel mileage.
These camshafts will also require a custom spring & titanium retainer package to work properly with the increased lift to prevent spring stack. If you currently have aftermarket springs please contact us so we can insure everything will work properly together. THESE CAMSHAFTS CAN NOT BE USED WITH STOCK SPRINGS!
Due to the factory Ford design of the Gen 4 F-150 Coyote engines (not the same as the Mustang) is why these need additional parts to work and change the overall factory configuration. This is the only options at this time for camshafts; especially at this type of specification. The VDE system has been known to cause havoc on other platform engines and will be a continuing plague to the Gen 4 Coyote F-150 engines. Not only does this alleviate the issues caused by VDE but it will also be power gain!
At this current time, we do not have dyno sheets or horsepower results. The first 3 customers that supply us with dyno sheets will receive a check for the amount of $250 as well as a T-shirt and stickers for your time and trust in our products. This batch of camshafts are being sold on a first come first serve basis. We just received the shipping notification and expect to have these at the end of the week to do our final quality control inspection then we will begin shipping. All of our camshafts are put through a QA process where they are verified against the design data to insure the final product matches our designated requirements. This results in consistent profile geometry and optimal final performance. If a camshaft fails quality assurance it is scrapped.
